A POSITIVE DISPLACEMENT MOTOR (PDM) IS A DOWNHOLE HYDRAULIC DRILLING MOTOR THAT USES DRILLING FLUID FLOW AND PRESSURE TO GENERATE TORQUE AND ROTATION TO DRIVE THE DRILL BIT.
MAIN COMPONENTS:
- POWER SECTION (ROTOR AND STATOR): CONVERTS HYDRAULIC POWER OF THE DRILLING FLUID INTO MECHANICAL ACTION, GENERATING TORQUE AND ROTATION.
- BEARING SECTION: SUPPORTS AXIAL AND RADIAL LOADS WHILE TRANSMITTING ROTATIONAL FORCE TO THE DRILL BIT.
- USES DRILLING FLUID FLOW AND PRESSURE TO DRIVE THE DRILL BIT DIRECTLY DURING DRILLING OPERATIONS.
